Affirmations, hydration, etc., are what I do as preventative measures and an ounce of prevention is, indeed, far better than a pound of cure. Buttttaaaa, . . It still happens and in controlled doses, it can even be a good thing for getting through high stress and/or highly boring events.
I use "Tactile Grounding Techniques" to bring myself back from a dissociated state. I translate that as using my senses, touch, sight, smell, sound and/or taste, to bring myself back to my senses. There are infinite numbers of tactile grounding techniques available, many of which can be used without anyone around me knowing I am *exercising*.
For me, it is solidly linked to my anxiety. Ideally, I can use the anxiety management techniques, affirmation, hydration, etc., to keep my anxiety from escalating to dissociation.
Another form of anxiety, the minds way of protecting us from perceived, yet unfounded danger. I’ve been trying several tools. The “calm” ap helped and also don’t let the symptom scare you. If you react negatively, it will stay longer thinking you are in serious danger. It’s tough sometimes but I try to stay calm to trick my mind into realizing I’m not in danger.
