Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

hubby and i have been working a long-delayed rennovation of the old farm house on the farm restoration project we have been working since 2016 when hubby and his brother inherited the property. his brother is not too interested in the farm. he was born near the pacific ocean and grew up near the gulf coast. life on the southern great plains is a mystery he is content to let be. in living fact, he wants to sell his half of the inheritance and is being impressively sensitive to the fact that his inherited investment is what we and our 3 orphans are currently calling, "home."
the current rennovation has been going since march. it seems like every board we have moved during this project has revealed a new problem. we are all weary from watching the original 4-6 week time guestimate stretch into months. the contractor has other projects to work and ? ? ? have we become a nuisance item on his company agenda? i certainly feel like one. i am in danger of smelling his daily bowel movement more vividly than i see his dazzling smile or admire his workmanship.
i want to close out the current contract and am actively looking for items to take off the contractor punch out list. i might or might not hire him for future contracts, but i don't get to know until we actually close the current contract. hubby wants to get pickier about those punch out list and is adding more details which i believe we could do better ourselves and/or handle with new contracts, be the new contracts with this man or another contractor.
sigh. . . just venting. . .
for those of you who have followed the story, yes, this is the same rennovation which was put on the proverbial back burner with the string of family tragedies which commenced in 2018 and reached its closure with the 2019 double funeral of my son and his wife.
today i leave the mood icon squarely on "okay." it is a wild ride, but methinks i am holding steady through the latest storm. insert louisa may alcott here. "i fear not the storms for i am learning how to navigate my ship."

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.
Contractors are the worst to deal with. You have to stagger the payments like a carrot on a stick, otherwise they will drag their feet and or not show up or finish. I hope you and your hubby can be the task masters to this contractor. It seems like the renovation stirs up a lot of thoughts about recent life, and you are doing wonderfully well! Hats off to you Arfie!
hubby is a corporate man. i am mostly staying on the bench while he plays the manly man. the gaps between our style of managing contractors are enough to confuse the most flexible of humans. what does knowledge have to do with it? hubby knows best. insert tevye from fiddler on the roof here. but. one of the greater consistencies of my own project-oriented life is that end-of-project is an anxiousy time, regardless of the project or the players on the project field. there comes a time when it is time to move on.
