You might ask that they check your vitamin D and folate levels. They can also check to see if you have the MTHFR gene mutation. If you do, it can predispose you to depression/anxiety and a host of other issues. The treatment is inexpensive and easy - a specific sort of methyl folate. For me it eliminated my anxiety attacks.
Another thing they're finding is that probiotic can have an impact on anxiety. For me, anytime I had anxiety I also had stomach troubles. The probiotic helps my stomach so that it doesn't trigger the anxiety.

What I mean by worse, is when you start an ssri I have read hoorror stories on the internet that "the start up" of these meds are absolutley horrible and during this time is when people usually stop taking them.
