My psychiatrist changed the doses on two of my medications last week. He upped the Adderall from 20 to 30 mg twice a day. And he also upped my clonazepam from 3mg to 4mg a day. The problem is that my visit came with medication remaining from my old dosage. The pharmacy refused to fill the new prescriptions. So Im just confused. If I start the new dosage using my remaining meds, I will run out before 30 days. Does the pharmacy have to fill the new script before the 30 days since the dosage changed? It seems ridiculous that a doctor can instruct tou and prescribe you a certain dosage and even confirm it with the pharmacy. But some of these pharmacists seem to want to play God and controller of the universe and play games and judge you and not fill a prescription. So now Im going to be in a bind in a few days, so I dont know whether to go to the doctor or the pharmacy. The pharmacy treats me like a drug addict because I take controlled substances. And its not a written prescription so I cant try another pharmacy. Any suggestions or anybody been in similar situations? Why do these pharmacies think they know ore than the pscychatrist prescribing the medication?

For what it's worth, pharmacists are doctors of medicine. Drugs are their medical specialty. They very often *do* know more than the doctors prescribing the drugs. Not that I want to get between arguing experts. . . I'd still call the psychiatrist for clarity. Let them duke it out.
Its not that pharmacists play God. They cannot take chances with YOU having multiple medications.
You can blame these so called STUPID rules on junkies and druggies. They can change Doctors, pharmacists, lie about meds. Pretend they lost meds etc. Just to get more, which is difficult now.
Certain meds that were over the counter. You need a prescription. Others that were on the shelf, you must ask the pharmacist for. Why? Because people use them to create more powerful illegal drugs.
I hope talking to your pharmacist and maybe calling your Doctor helps.
I hope the new prescription works better for you too.
Let us know how it goes. Good luck!
