Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

It's been some time since my last post...sorry. I've been going through a challenging time with the sale of my home, purchase of a condo and my adult asperger son that lives with me. I've had days where I couldn't get out of bed, days where I stayed in my pj's and days where all I managed to do was eat, drink fluids and take care of my Sweet Mia kitty. Sweet Mia came to me from a shelter about 1.5 years ago, she is the Only thing in my life that brings a consistant smile to my face...yes, I have challenges with her too, she's a very picky eatter and with a can of cat food close to a dollar it's frustrating to throw away her food daily...
About 2 weeks ago my son and I had a Huge Blow Up, he left and stayed at a motel for 4 days, I closed myself off to live in just two rooms to avoid him. I made a decision that he would have 6 months to stay at the new condo and then he needed to move into his own place. He has a good job, a good income and if he saves money I will match whatever he saves as a down payment.
What happened, I slowly out of necessity made myself move a wee bit each day. I have about one more month in my house, the contractors postpone closing 2 times, now possible closing date on 9/7...so I have just a month to finish packing sorting giving away and throwing away.
Most of my life I've had major depression, been in hospital a couple of times, and found DS along the way which has been a huge part of my daily life and contact with people. I have one kidney functioning at 25% and copd, I just turned 73. Over the years DS has provided me with Amazing Friendships, sadly many have passed and I hold them close to my heart. One Dear Friend, my Beloved Laura helped me with a smal saying "shift your sails and move into a new direction"...I was being quite negative about the move to a condo, it's a small area of 40 condos on a back road away from traffic which I really liked. What I don't like is the sterile atmosphere, no beautiful trees, or bunnies, or flower gardens which I have now, in addition to my neighbors who have little children...a new neighbor bought my 'dream house' I tried for it but it went too high.
I'm Wondering??? After the Big Blow Up with my son I made the decision to stop being "Mommy/Case Manager". My son turned 30 the week before and so how often we think we are responsible for some one, or if it's hurtful to be 'too responsible' so they don't learn how to fall down and pick themselves back up again. I think that is what I've done for way too long with my son.
I made a mistake with a dear friend when they said I feel responsible for my family, I asked why? they are all adults...I guess responsibility could also me caring, or loving or being supportive, or helpful "When Asked" vs. trying to control an outcome or give un asked for advice. It's a challenge to let go and stop doing something I've done for 30 years as a single parent, however I think too it's time to shift sails!
Here is a fellow I came across, over a million subscribers...Wondering??? what lessons he might have to help me along the way, and you too! The Mindset Mentor Podcast - YouTube

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

What a difference a day makes when it comes to depression
It can really wipe the floor with you
It does with me as well
Ib disengage with life
I think letting John make his own mistakes is a good thing to a degree
When it messes with your enjoyment of youe home that's something else
You came up with plan to have your home cleaned professionally ever couple of weeks or so and I think that will be huge to you two having a peaceful home
I don't think John will change and it's no good constantly being on edge at home
I believe this will solve a lot of problems
Big squishy hug
My DS friends are so important to my daily life as well..xo
