General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. I don't know why, or where it's coming from, but I keep having random bursts of unstoppable, hysterical sounding crying. I'm not the kind of person to cry at work, but today was hard. I work with a very small group of people and one of the two girls I work with left for a new job today. I was competing with her for asst mgr and suppose beat her and felt competitive and more deserving, but I've gotten to know her over the past year pretty well and hate change. I couldn't stop sobbing at the thought of working with someone new, even if it meant not getting a promotion. It's weird, it's what I wanted all a long but I didn't want her to leave today. It's been a hard year and she's always listened to me rant or complain and only offered kindness and advice. Then, today a customer yelled and cussed in my face over something I had no control over and was trying to accommodate her... I didn't know what my friend was doing, still dont. I'm supposed to go to dinner to talk about becoming asst mgr with my manager next week and my self esteem is at an all time low. Idk if I don't believe it will happen, as i'm constantly getting let down, or if I don't think i'm capable or deserving.
Any words of advice? Oh and I cut my toxic best friend of 6 years out of my life last week. : ( feeling low

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
I think you are too and you have become disappointed in the lack of seeming stability you'd really like in your life. It's stressful and you've experienced quite a lot of this of late.
You need to find time and place just for yourself. If you think about it, most of these things are going to come and go and not possibly cause you any harm. On an emotional level, though, it feels a lot different.
If anything, I've learned to take care of myself first...and let everyone else, who keep trying to make demands of me...go away.
Your personal boundaries are soft for a number of reasons. I'm not saying that redefining those are necessary but perhaps reinforcement of the existing personal boundaries may help you in the long run...although that can be stressful in the short run.
In other words, you are ready for the assistant manager position for your self, you've worked for it, and now that it's here, you need a new goal to work towards.
In the workplace, work friendships have a specific boundary line, and when those boundaries change, it allows for personal growth, and gives you a sense of balance that is yours alone.
Take care of yourself first, and the rest will fall into place.
Best wishes!!!!
We've got to quit letting ourselves get to that low of a point and as much as it is hard to do, at least we can acknowledge it's there and that in and of itself is a start. When people compliment me or tell me I'm pretty, etc. I don't believe it. I point out all of my flaws and wonder what the heck they see.
Something people tell me all the time, don't worry about something that hasn't come up yet. Man is that easier said than done! Maybe you can try to think about the qualities you have that makes you a good candidate for the new position? If you don't get it, which I'm sure you will, ask what you can do to get to that position. Good luck!
