Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Without getting into boring details, I am 32, met a man 2 weeks prior to moving across the country. We had an amazing connection right from the start, neither of us were looking for anything or trying to meet anyone and we sort of landed in each other's laps. Well after I moved he became less and less in contact with me. Then I had my friend, who is his neighbor, talk to him for me and she said more than I wanted and he found out I had jealousy problems with him as well, and he told me everything she said was overwhelming to him. We still communicated a little after that, but then he just stopped. He had reassured me after that incident and many times before he didn't want to stop talking, he liked me, etc. It's now been about 3-4 weeks since he's said anything to me. He won't read my facebook messages to him, respond to texts, and that's it. So I know it's time to move on and I know there are a multitude of reasons why he stopped talking to me etc. But for some reason, I can't seem to let it go. I'm talking to my therapist about it and my days are getting better and I'm less depressed than at first, but I can't seem to get past him or the pain. It's like I can get through my day, but he's always in the back of my thoughts and I'm ready to cry at any moment. A lot of it is him, a lot of it is I'm in a vunerable spot in my life (I'm going through a divorce), and a lot of it is the situation (my "friend" who is his neighbor isn't a good friend and I feel makes things worse and I worry may sleep with him). Also he treated me better and made me feel more good than any man has, and I just feel like I'll never find the exact things he did or better in any other man. Like no man will ever match him. I'm doing my best to move on, but I'm not interested in anyone else and I have so much anxiety thinking about him and my friends who see him all the time. I'm so scared I will never get over him. I know that sounds juvenile, and I've been through break ups etc before, but I feel like this is different and it really scares me I won't ever feel good about him or the situation again. Can anyone offer help or insight on getting over him/this? I'm trying to stay busy etc, but it's like nothing takes him off of my mind. Thank-you for reading this.

On Saturday, while I was at yard sales with my best friend, my lawn guy texted me that he did my lawn. This costs me $70 every two weeks or so. I don't have great grass so sometimes, he skips. Anyway, I paid him on CashApp when I got home. On Sunday morning, he texted me again, to say goodbye because he was moving. My little thinking cap went on and I thought about how I am healthier...
I hate to admit it, but I have been that toxic friend. The one who is so unhappy that she doesn't want happiness for anyone else. It's a sad place to be in life and I'm happy to say that I was not in that place for long.
I love the idea CCC came up with about finding a hobby that involves socializing. It's very possible that your true soul mate is still out there, waiting to meet you.
As for getting over this one.... process all those feelings. If you feel like crying about it then let yourself cry. Grieve the loss of a relationship you thought had potential. If you are angry then get that anger out by screaming and yelling and punching a pillow. But please do this in a safe healthy way. Scream and yell in your car while you are alone and not at someone else. Direct the anger where it belongs - at the 'friend' and even at the man who believed what she was telling him. I have found that it is processing/releasing these emotions that allowed me to move on from the things that consumed my thoughts.
Take care
If you don't think this is the base, I would ASK HIM. If he really will not respond, then I think he is the one with serious issues and a maturity age of 7. ((((hugs))))
Jeninheels, thank-you so much for your response. I do get angry at him because I do feel like he's being so childish for not repsonding to me at all!! I mean, even if it was just as friends or anything else, any response at all would be helpful! It angers me so much but does also show me that maybe he's the one with the problem. But I go back and forth with those thoughts. And yes, I totally agree about the situation where you just want somebody b/c you can't have them. With he and I, I think it may be a combination. I truly do/did like him and thought so much of him but at the same time, when I was there with him there were times I felt like there were things about him that were of-putting to me. But I kind of pushed them to the side. Now that we're apart, it's so easy to just see the good things and remember the good times. But I do/did still have genuine feelings for him too, so that's why it's still so painful.
I really can't thank-you all enough for responding. I feel like you really do understand. (((hugs)))
For you, the actual person is the one your friend talked to and the one in your head is the person constantly in the back of your mind. Great description by the way. Wonderful insight that there is one man out in the world and one in your head.
The man you think of is static and unmoving. You cannot interact with him because he cannot contribute more than he already has. You are in a one-sided relationship with your idea of your ex.
Please tread lightly. It might be that if you become comfortable with a one-sided relationship with a person in your head, you will create a one-sided relationship when you meet and date someone new.
It's human nature to repeat what is familiar regardless of whether it is healthy or not. Be well. Love yourself, you're worth it.
Slowly you will forget more and more about him, forgetting is what helps a lot. You will eventually forget the emotional feelings you had connected to him and everything will slowly fade. Right now I look back and I think WHAT WAS I THINKING??? LOL. I thought he was the best I would get and I was CRAZY LOL

Alan, thank-you for the kind words. You are so right about me creating this one idea of him in my head. I think I tend to do that with a lot of situations. I'm becoming more aware that I do that and am really fighting to stay more in the present, but I know when my anxiety hits or when I'm constantly thinking, thinking, thinking, it's hard to realize I'm in my head. And great tip on making sure I don't create a one-sided relationship when I meet someone new. I never really thought about it, but I wonder if I have done that before. Glad to be aware it's a possibility.
Babymonkey, thanks for showing me the other side of the breakup. It makes me feel good that he could be missing me and that it's hard for him too, but from the sounds of it and from how he doesn't respond to me, it's hard to see it that way from him. But I hope you are right and he does feel stronger than maybe I think. And those songs were great! To be with you is one of my faves from when I was growing up, and the others were great! Thank-you for taking the time to comment. You all truly are great. Hugs. :)
