However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hi there folks, I am a new member, well not really, just kind of reincarnated in the form of another account. I already have an extreme anxiety disorder, but now its been going through the roof after getting hacked. Not sure of this is the place to discuss that type of thing, but it has me on edge. I thought it was just my phone, but figured out my laptop is where they got in. There was a setting on for remote access I wasnt aware of. Then through email accounts and such on there I guess they got in my phone. I have a brand new phone now and a new number and Im not using the laptop. But im on edge everytime an umfamiliar number calls. I keep all my permissions off, which makes using the phone frustrating. Im no expert on this. Just looking for some input to give me some peace of mind. Should using a new phone and number have me safe now? I sent somebody an email on the hacked laptop (before I knew it was hacked) giving them my new phone number, which they never got. On my old phone the hacker would have a text sent to reset passwords and then some how reroute my texts to them and get the code. I have all new accounts now with no phone numbers linked to them, but Im on edge? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Used a different debit card and pulled apart everything looking for missing debit card before I left parking lot. Got home, dropped keys. So now I have a missing debit card, missing keys. A full cartload to unload and put away. I got everything put away.Dumped purse for a...

I cope by limiting the number of places I put my personal information on the internet. The few on-line accounts I have are checked and re-checked before I enter my name, much less other account references. I use a "dummy card" for any and all on-line purchases. A "dummy card" is an account which holds zero personal information and only enough funds to cover the current purchase. If somebody in Bumfuck, Cyberville hacks the card, it won't get them far.
But. . . Gentle empathy, ScrewedUp. It's a toughie and I don't see it getting gentler any time soon. 'Tis the price of all this appy-days connectivity. My still growing fantasy is of internet-optional computer systems. I want my internet sharing attached to a physical switch that cannot be flipped, robbed, sneezed on and/or sabotaged from Anywhere, Planet Earth.
Best wishes, and welcome back.
