Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hey. I'm 22 years old and I have been dealing with anxiety since I was 12 years old. There are many reasons why, being bullied, feeling depressed etc. and I have kept it for so long. My mom recently knows that I have so much anxiety, but she doesn't know why. And she doesn't know what I have been hiding/really supports what I am going through. She finally agreed to let me see a therapist, but it still like *rolls eyes* at me. It's hard living with something that is one of the biggest reasons you have anxiety/feeding you such toxic energy. My therapist is a great help and I am glad I see her once a week, I just feel, like many people do, that though it's great to talk things out and find methods I still find myself stuck in between.
I'm tired of this tight or heavy feeling in my chest. I hate losing myself sometimes and forgetting all that I learned and breaking down. I'm sad my mom doesn't understand. I tell my therapist these things and we discuss ways to prepare to prevent me from falling down the hole, but again it's still hard. Anxiety gets in the way of my life SO MUCH. So, I thought a support group would give me that extra help. Because as much as I do have friends that support me, they don't even know the full truth/it's still so hard for me to open up. From my self-image to just living life, anxiety has gotten in the way. It sucks I held it in for over 10 years, but this year I started the journey of unwinding. I just wanted to talk to a support group and try and see if this helps talking to people and what not along with my therapist. Sorry if I rambled on for too long, I'll add more details if anyone is curious. Thank you for reading this if you did.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
No doubt in my mind that Anxiety gets in the way of SO MUCH and truly does suck, both literally and metaphorically. I also believe that talking in a support group really does help. It's still hard, but knowing I'm not alone makes it easier.
Welcome aboard. Hope you find stabilizing companionship here.
To Tonisora: Thank you for the reply. Yeah there isn't much I can do either. I do live my my dad and brother also, but my mom is the one that is home most of the time and a lot of our interactions our toxic. I do feel insulted by her words and it makes me feel like I am not good enough, but I do my best to not have expectations of her cause like you said that can cause a lot more stress. I'm trying my best to deal with my anxiety, but thank you, your words mean a lot, they do. *hugs*
Here's the saying to use to help keep your well-being first and healthy with toxic situations.
You are NOT responsible for what others say and do.
You are responsible for how you react, how you respond, and for your choices.
So, pick a response that is positive for your well-being and use that to start the changes in others' response. Their usual response will no longer fit, so it may get worse before it gets better, it does change.
When you find yourself being positive, it will help you stay calm when the comments continue.
The more you display confidence and strength, it will become more natural for you to be you, no matter where you are at.
Best wishes.
To GirlinCalif: I'm sorry to hear you go through a lot too and people don't understand. It is sad that something like anxiety isn't talked about and it's seen as a weakness because it clearly is not. I did discuss today with my therapist things I can do in between sessions and will continue to try to find ways to help me. Thank you for the book recommendation I will for sure check it out and of course thank you for your words and advice, means a lot!
