Have you looked into fixing your acid reflux? Such as diet, sleep position, timing of meals, avoiding certain foods, etc.
Have you talked with your doctor about it, asked what they want you to do about it?
Many millions of people have acid reflux. I know about 5 people right now that have it regularly. I just have not heard of it commonly causing cancer. Did your colleague have acid reflux before his cancer diagnosis? I know me saying that it is not likely to happen to you won't help much, but I think if you researched it and tried to avoid the things that cause the reflux, you will hopefully feel a bit less anxious and not think about it as much.
I do believe you are going to be okay. Acid reflux really is a common thing. But it is also pretty easy to treat. I hope you will look into treating it.
Anxiety is natural. Noticing it means you're aware of the way it is working 'with' and 'for' your well-being. Stop, pause, breathe, and take a step back from the words, feelings, emotions, and thoughts in that moment.
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
Have a blessed day!
