Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

So for two months now, I've been experiencing strange symptoms like trouble breathing, yet my O2 is always fine, my lungs sound clear dry mouth, sinuses, extremely chapped lips, sore throat, upset stomach, headaches and waking up several times at night gasping for air.
I've been to the doctor three times for them and treated for thrush, bronchitis, and allergies. It's almost sent me to the ER several times, the feeling of not being able to breathe, gasping when I wake up.
So... the crux of the matter is this, my husband just qualified for insurance at his new job, so the kids and him are covered immediately, but spousal coverage won't happen until December. So every time I go to the doctor it costs us out of pocket, and we don't have much money to throw around.
My husband is frustrated with the whole situation, I keep complaining of these things and the doctor keeps saying that nothing physical is showing up. However he hasn't tested my heart or even given me a lung capacity test. Anyway, I'm afraid my husband has already written this off as just me being anxious, (even though I've NEVER abused going to the doctor).
I can't decide, is there something to this? My gut tells me something is very very wrong with my body and I need to figure it out. But I also know logically that all those things could just be anxiety. It's easy to say go to another doctor, but we will pay for all these tests ourselves. Most are not cheap.

If you find yourself in this thought, distract it. Do something physical.
When your anxiety levels are so noticeable that other people look at what you are saying, doing, and claiming anxiety, then you will have to first take care of the anxiety to see what's left.
Most times, we calm ourselves down, and feel less stressed, which allows us time to recover our natural balance.
Best wishes. You are not alone!
A blood test would tell if you have this problem. The doctor needs to check your TSH and the Free T4 and Free T3 hormone levels in your blood. If this seems at all a possibility I suggest you join the hypothyroidism support group here and read some of the posts.
I have General Anxiety Disorder but I also have hypothyroidism I take a Synthroid pill every day to balance the thyroid gland. Been on that since 1975 when the gland quit after the birth of my first child.
I had GAD long before 1975 though so I can't totally blame the thyroid gland for my anxiety and depression issues.
Depression was terrible. I had two times when it got really bad..in 2005 and again in 2009. First on Paxil and then on Cipralex.
Anyhow that is my story.. Now I still get anxiety so bad that I can't get up but I refuse to go on antidepressants again. I have done a lot of reading and there are several good internet support sites for anxiety one is www.anxietyslayer.com
Another great help is www.tapping.com I like the video on there that shows how to do the tapping on key meridian points to help stop anxiety ..I tried it and it really does work.
also I take natural products now when anxiety gets really bad
www.88herbs.com I take the SleepX for bedtime. I also bought the Zen+ and the L-theanine All are very good natural remedies to help calm anxiety.
Sometimes I can't stop yawning and often I can't get the yawn to complete.. I have figured that anxiety causes this. I especially notice it when I wake up in the morning and can't get enough air in my lungs. That in itself can cause more anxiety.. Once you realize that it is anxiety and nothing else, then you can calm yourself down .
Hypothyroidism symptoms are feeling tired all the time..hard time swallowing...dry skin, feeling cold and getting colds...the worst is gaining weight quickly..that is a sure sign of a problem.
It is so important to get a good nights sleep..without that, my anxiety is so bad I can't function during the day..I cry a lot and I know it is because the adrenals are fatiqued right out.
The internet has given me so much help. I hope some of this is helpful to you.
If your thyroid is the reason for your anxiety, your doctor should soon have it under control for you.
I have MS, Graves disease, IBS, osteoarthritis, gastritis, spondylosis, Fibromyalgia, costochondritis, and the list goes on. Half the time I don't know which illness is causing the symptoms. But I do know that my anxiety comes more and more often with just the smallest triggers.
However, most of the treatment plans for anxiety physical symptoms are those that are done in the moment of the anxiety spike. In order to find out what other medical conditions could be affecting anxiety levels, you first have to remove the anxiety symptom.
Keeping track of when, where, and a daily activity journal is a big positive way to figure out what's happening.
Where breathing is an issue, practice deep relaxing breathing. This helps reduce existing tension in the breathing system and gives your body a chance to recover naturally.
For fibromyalgia anxiety, the first motion...no matter from what position, it is the one most prone to bring on anxiety ... and yet, the best release for anxiety, is to move. So, I practice gently flowing motions before I get up if I feel tense. It minimizes the pain enough so that when I continue moving, it feels better.
The hardest part of treating anxiety is understanding it is natural. That means we find a way to cope with it, make it work for us, and it is real.
Best wishes. You are not alone.
What are your risk factors? Do you smoke? Are you on the oestrogen contraceptive pill? Are you morbidly obese?
But the biggie on your symptoms, something that happens to me now and again:
Do you get heartburn ever? This could be a biggie if you do; you don't have normal pain sensors in your lungs, and you can actually, lol, have food come out of your stomach and into your lungs in your sleep. This doesn't kill you, but it does wake you up in the middle of the night unable to breathe, gasping, winded, feeling like breathing is an uphill battle with pains all through your chest, and wondering about major, major life threatening things like heart attacks.
:D It's scary till you know what it is. I am now on losec, which is amazing. I take a pill a day and I just get no heartburn whatsoever. :)
