Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I too was convinced that my Irritable Bowel Syndrom was something really bad. I went through every available test and some were quite evasive and painful, but all came back clear. I used to think that I was having a heart attack, but I was checked out and all was ok. It was IBS causing my body pains, and Acid reflux causing my chest pain. The Acid Reflux (heart burn) was awfull. A real lump in my throat and pain in my chest.
My anxiety also causes uncomfortable feelings in my chest and worries me sometimes, but I now know that there is nothing life threatening happening to me.
I'm obviously not qualified to offer any kind of medical advise, but with most anxiety, the mind looks for a reason as to why it feels so uncomfortable, so it will look for any reason to make sense of it all. The slightest physical feeling can be blown up out of proportion and then the mind will focus on that.
My anxiety can make me feel pretty physically ill some days, but it's more of an emotional thing rather than anything wrong with my body.
Hope this can be of some small help.
Regards,
Stu
There is. Anxiety is a physical condition just as much as it is a mental condition.
You describe "i have trouble eating/swallowing i fell as though I'm choking or that everything is getting stuck in my throat/windpipe" I get the same feeling when my anxiety level is high. I actually didn't realize that was common (thought I was unique in that one lol)
There are alot of things you can do to allieviate the anxiety yourself. Breathing excercises, meditation and visualization all work very well.
