Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I have had ongoing family drama for the past 2+ years. I have an aunt who is mentally ill and cares for my elderly grandmother. I live quite a distance away from them. My aunt resents being my grandmothers caregiver however wont discuss hiring in home help or assisted living placement. Whenever I try to call my grandma to check on her my aunt says condescending things about me in the background and threatens to bring my grandmother to my house to live. When I can help and try to, I'm not permitted to or taken advantage of. This is taking a serious toll on my marriage and relationships. I'm so nervous constantly and consumed with this situation. I dont know what to do. I've tried discussing this with my aunt and she isnt open to doing anything differently. I just dont know where to go from here.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
Best wishes.
I see two options here. One is to take your aunt up on the threat to bring your grandmother to your house. If she carries through with it, you might be able to have the assisted living or whatever lined up before the move is complete.
The second is to *just* let go and let the cosmos work out the details. The not-so-funniest thing about anxiety habits is the way they will take over your life whether you are worried about a beloved family member or losing enough weight to be as anorexic as your favorite fashion model.
Thanks for your reply. Other family members have tried but all have been pushed away by rudeness or her outbursts. She refuses to hire in home care for even a few hours although I feel sure they could afford one or two days a week.
It's a real strain on my marriage and I'm just to the point of wanting to let go and let the universe work it out.
Its so unfortunate your Auntie isn’t making things easy for you with your grandmother’s care. Sometimes there are some people we cannot seem to avoid so we have to develop a tough skin towards them. I can tell that you love your grandmother and want the best for her. Try and find out from your grandmother if she is being taken care of well. If you feel she is not been taken care of then let social services come in. If she is okay and your Aunt isn’t changing her attitude then you just have to let go. If you can’t change it then don’t worry about it. Because while you spend time and your energy thinking about her behavior and the way she relates to you she would probably sleeping or relaxing. Don’t let her get into you. I pray and hope things get better.
Thank you for your kind words. I know she is ok but my aunts attitude just keeps my nerves torn up. I haven't called in a few days and know I need to soon but it just makes me so anxious. Almost to the point of shaking, I get so nervous. I wish there was a way to just get rid of this anxiety.
