Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. Maybe if you can avoid the food or drink you had today that caused your heartburn, then at least you won't have to go through this feeling again.
In my opinion, I don't think you are having a heart attack. Hope you feel better soon!
You've taken the important first step in writing it out.
Anxiety heartburn is common. Practice even breathing exercises, calming breaths and slow eating and drinking to help relax the muscles that are tensed up.
Keep writing it out.
For immediate relief, a teaspoon of baking soda mixed into a glass of water is my favorite fix. Vinegar is faster but yucky. Drinking pickle juice is a more palatable vinegar fix, but not quite as effective.
Gentle support while you find what works for you.
But with GERD, sometimes being anxious causes the GERD it act up. So it’s kind of hard knowing what is causing what.
I take a prescription for the GERD and also live on Tums. When it’s really bad I try tI walk. I know that sounds weird but sometimes doing a little light exercise helps relieve things. I also avoid alcohol when I’ve got a lot of heartburn because that seems to make it worse.
But....I get where you are coming from!!! I too have been to drs, all kinds of heart testing nothing. Some years back I went to the ER with chest and my left arm going numb. Turned out my heart was healthy and it was muscular. Time to time I had this happen over the years and kept saying its muscular. I may have at some point went back to the dr. Well, one day I got a gift certificate for a massage so I got a massage. I learned from the massage therapist where I carry my stress and deep muscle knots, etc. And the reason for my chest pain was due to a muscle knot pulling this muscle and compressing the nerve. Once he got all that out I was great! Time to time I feel this again and pull out my massager to rid the knot. I focused so much on one thing, I didn't notice the other.
Amazing how anxiety has us all wound up sometimes.
Right now I am battling with some allergies or cold all summer, and I think I got covid, but it is not covid each time.
I have Ulcerative colitis and GERD. I am have been going through some emotional stuff for the past couple of months. I am not sure how the GI symptoms might feed off the depression and vice versa. I am watching my diet and sleep. Have you tried any probiotics? Sometimes the gas along with the GERD can mean the good bacteria in your gut in depleted.
Anyway, I have heard that there is a big brain -gut connection.
Hope that you can figure things out--I am trying all kinds of things to get it under control as well
