a single tool can't possibly cover my own anxiety smorgasbord. social anxiety, work anxiety, performance anxiety, ptsd anxiety, et al, all respond to different tools.
when i need to figure out which tool to pull out of the box, i often start with a post very much like this very thread. over the course of working the thread, i often sort which dynamics are at play and how to balance and/or counter them.
for what it's wort
in my own therapy sessions, we call that feeling uncomfortable and/or disconnected from my body, "dissociation." we call the intrusive thoughts and that unsafe feeling, "hypervigilance." take those symptoms as a signal that my anxiety is escalating. time to step up the anxiety management to amber alert.
but that is me and every case is unique.
