hi everybody! I’m new here and I struggle with anxiety and panic attacks. I see a therapist but it hasn’t helped as much as I had hoped and thought maybe talking with others who understand my struggle would help me more. Something I have been struggling with lately is a feeling of dizzy/lightheadedness. Does anybody else experience this feeling? It comes on before I realize I’m anxious, which doesn’t make sense to me. I even went to the ER the other night because it was terrifying me but they told me I am fine. How do I cope with this? I feel as though nobody understands my struggle.

Yup, I get that dizzy/lightheadedness. I used to think it came before the anxiety attack, but these days I believe it is the first stage of an anxiety attack. When I can ply therapy tools at the dizzy stage, I can sometimes head off the attack. In my personal herstory, I tend to hold my breath when I am anxious. Breathing exercises fix the dizziness better than anything else I've tried.
For what it's worth, I've had several therapists I thought were not helpful at the time who made sense to me later in my healing journey. I've learned not to be too quick to judge on that score.
But that is me. . .
Gentle support while you figure your own. Welcome aboard.
