Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Good Evening Everyone,
I hope everyone is well and good during this time. I just wanted to update.. I just finished my Junior year of University and I'm officially a senior. I feel very accomplished. I didn't think I would be able to get to this point (I knew I would.. like in the back of my mind, but a couple weeks back this seemed so far away.) I have since then felt a huge relief to know that my first experience of online classes are officially over. I know that it doesn't mean that we won't do online classes next semester, and I think I'll be okay with it at least now since we will be starting online classes from the very beginning... not half way through the semester. So there's that.
Okay so.. in the last couple of weeks I had to say goodbye to my therapist because he was going to be done offering his services here in the US (he'll be going back home to live there), and I'm happy for him. I owe him a great deal because he really helped me out during the first couple of months of me trying to understand my anxiety. He said that I have grown a lot since then and I can honestly see it, but I also know that this journey with my anxiety will still need some guidance. His final piece of advice to me was to try not to be harsh on myself especially during this time. He also said I should try to remember that I can't control everything. Weirdly this was something that made me feel a little less anxious. I think that since the beginning of the stay-at-home order, I've been thinking too much about the outside world and the way others are handling this pandemic, and I have to remember to think about me and my household because at the end of the day, as frustrating as it is.. people are going to do whatever they want. I can't control that. What I can control is me and how I am handling this. I've been taking a little better care of myself by not really watching as much news during the week, as well as distracting myself with a favorite show or video game (BOTW for the Switch is super fun), but yeah. I am also on the hunt for another therapist which kind of makes me a bit anxious because all I keep thinking is (will this person "get" me like my previous one?) I mean I know that I have to search around and find the one that best fits me, but yeah. If anyone has any advice on how to find the right therapist... I am all ears.
Again I hope everyone is doing okay and taking care of themselves during this time. I really appreciate being able to share my thoughts with this group.
Best,
theblueumbrelladream

My strongest suggestion for therapist shopping is to share freely here and elsewhere in your peer support network while you work the process. A live support group can be quite helpful, also, when the Corona Powers get around to permitting such again. Sometimes a body needs eye contact and a flesh and blood shoulder to lean on. Therapist shopping can be a grueling process and the load is easier when shared.
One of the best gifts is actually finding changes as you make your way to a better balance. Being able to adjust positively is a huge success!
Best wishes!
