Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Well, not completely sleepless, but I woke up at some point and my mind decided it had things to think about. I wasn't even thinking about anything, just song lyrics repeating in my head, tv shows, lots of just random nonsense. Eventually anxiety came out to play... Why can't I sleep? What does it mean? And so on. The anxiety has mellowed, at least for now, and I know this is a pretty normal thing that happens to everyone, but (there's always a but) there's that lingering bit of anxiety about being anxious.
Iknow that there probably is no profound reason I couldn't sleep, but doesn't mean I don't want to try and figure it out. There's part of me that still holds on to the idea that if I can figure out "why" I feel anxious the discomfort will all just vanish.
I guess the upside to this is that I've been promoted to do some journaling about a couple of things... And I can prioritize taking an afternoon nap.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
Sometimes, the answer comes when you least expect it to.
That which we feed is that which grows. I work to keep the focus on what to do WHEN it happens again. To borrow from the old Cherokee parable of the two wolves, feed the good wolf.
And thank the cosmos for nap power. . .
Just woke up from a long morningg nap... Fell back to sleep after the anxiety started to get the better of me.
My guess here is that the "why" is as basic as eating too much rich food and sugar and staying up late the past few days. Throw a holiday in on top of that with all the accompanying emotion, finish it all off with a really poor nights sleep and, voila! Anxiety comes leaping out of the closet to romp on my chest. No great unresolved anything... Just a compromised system and anxiety being anxiety.
So, yes. I need to refocus on self care and "right thought" (to borrow a Buddhist phrase) and feel the good wolf. Maybe take him for a walk...

Yup, some extra self-care oughta do the trick.
Woke up early again this morning. I've come to really value sleep, so it makes me anxious when I wake up and can't get back to sleep. It's also something I associate with periods of really bad anxiety/depression, so it makes me nervous when I wake up early (early being around 4am).
Trying to look at this morning as a gift where I can focus on the fact that I feel fine right now. Tired, but fine. And how this is experiential evidence that anxiety comes from the mind, not from outside myself.
