I'm having a rough couple of weeks. I'm stuck in an anxiety cycle and its really bring me down. I hate this. I hate how my anxiety spurs on when I'm around my family, or my son. My son is just a little boy, but I get so scared that I'm not enough for him, or that my anxiety is causing me to not be the best momma I can be. I worry about worrying. I just want to feel at ease with my child. I want to feel confident in my abilities and when I'm with him. Why does this happen? Why does anxiety steal my joy, how can I get out of the cycle?

You are not alone.
I just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I am sure if you focus on finding ways to love yourself then you will in turn be able to give the best and unconditional love to your son. Love is really all people need. That is something maybe you can focus on this week. Loving yourself and lessening your anxieties and worries to love your son and be the best mom! I know you can. It is in there somewhere, you just have to find it.
Good luck with your week! Xoxo.
What we have to remember is that physical survival is rule number one. Emotional survival is rule number two. So no matter how screwed up you can get, obey those first two rules and everything will come out okay.
In practice it means that if you are freaked out, just be quiet inside yourself, give yourself time while your boy is playing on his own. Teach him how to play by himself: lego is great. Sandpits are great. This allows you the ability to go through the growth you have to go through, without him noticing.
When you have come out of these periods of growth he will be happy and cheerful and relaxed. Humans are wired to be positive. He is naturally positive. Look at him and see how dysfunction has created negativity in you, and learn how to not damage his positivity. As you learn this you learn to heal yourself.
He will trust and look up to you whether you realise this or not, and you have to factor it in. He doesn't think you're not good enough. He thinks you're amazing. So relax, and be amazing. :) Enjoy your little fan club and do your best for him, it's all he could ever want from you and it is well enough.
Remember: if cave woman can do it with lions and tigers prowling the perimeter, you can too.
