Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I've been up since 1am. I feel I'm having some sort of mental breakdown.
Roomie is no help to me. Why would he be? He doesnt know how. I plan on working all weekend now that I am recovered from surgury. It is Mercury Retrograde, not a good time to make major decisions. A few weeks ago i gave my 2 weeks notice and boss convinced me to stay. I dont think this was best for my psyche. I had relief then felt guilt for leaving so I stayed and now here I am conflicted again. I should have stuck to my guns but like every other situation in the past, I gave in to help someone else feel better at my confidence's expense.
Roomie has quit just about every job he has started but has convinced me I should not leave this job. I look at it this way, this is a small family owned business, the owners just bought a house out of state and want to spend more time there. There was barely enough work to keep me busy and they hired a new person for the front desk which was where I was sitting. I was told by my boss that she will be hiring someone to take her place that can do accounting as well. I am not an accountant so where does that leave me in the picture? I am to train the newbie. I'm confused and bitter. I need to start thinking long term. I'll be 50 soon and need to look for a job that will last long term.

I don't really know how to label this but I having a rough week and I can't say it's one thing.... I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

I proactively have these conversations with my boss as the company I work for grows, changes, etc. Just had one this week in fact.
To me, work on my self-esteem issues is a different can of worms, altogether. My damaged self-esteem can complicate the most idyllic of opportunities. Basing my self-esteem building on outside influences such as job titles, bosses, romantic partners, etc., complicates more than it solves.
You're staying in that job to help the owners train new people. So, continue looking at other jobs and when you find one that fits you, then give your notice.
Anxiety is a helper. So use it as your helper.
In my world, using that two week vacation to relax and clear out the mental cobwebs would be an investment in helping me think more clearly while exploring my growth opportunities.
Making up the time I invest in job interviews, etc., is just paying my dues. It takes what it takes.
For most people, seeking a job while working is like having two jobs at once, the job you have and the job of looking for a job. If you are serious about leaving and finding a good job, the time and effort put in pays off eventually. If you have to make up a couple hours here and there for interviews, it’ll be worth it in the long run.
