An aneurysm (or aneurism) is localized, blood-filled dilation (bulge) of a blood vessel caused by disease or weakening of the vessel wall. Aneurysms most commonly occur in arteries at the base of the brain and in the aorta - this is an aortic aneurysm. This bulge in a blood vessel can burst and lead to death at any time.

I was diagnosed with an ICA on January 20th. I just had my aneurysm coiled on April 12th. It was a difficult procedure because of its location. And the neurosurgeon was only able to put one coil in it. I go back for a follow-up in four weeks and another angio in six months to see if the coiling worked and my aneurysm is clotted off. It has been so nice to read other blogs about aneurysms, feelings that you have, and symptoms after surgery. I have been having headaches after my coiling. The doctors are not sure if it is normal or not, so I had a CT of my brain to make sure that I did not have a bleed. Everything came back ok. But, the headaches still are there. And I have a metallic taste in my mouth. I read that it could be from the stent that they put in my artery (my annie was wide-mouthed). Anyway, thanks for the support. I have been feeling very "alone" and it is nice to know I am not!!

Good Morning nichole.I can not answer on headaches as I have not had one since my aneurysm ruptured and bled in January 2008. I was getting terrible migraine ones at least once a week and they would last for 2 to 3 days. Eye sight would blur and stomach upset. Only twice in 40 years did I get sick to my stomach with the headaches but they were never checked out. I take no medication except for a blood pressure pill once a day. My annie was wide mouthed too and because of the bleed, the coiling doctor could not coil tight in case it caused more bleeding. As a result, 17 months later i got another annie. This one was coiled too with a new procedure and things are fine. My annies are in the circle of willis in the back of my brain. The blood pumps in the V part and causes the ballooning of the artery. I just watch what I am doing now and do not smoke or lift anything that is heavy to cause strain in my neck & shoulders and I am fine. Rest when you feel tried and remember there is always tomorrow to do things. Be kind to yourself and let others help you. Take care. Carol

Dear Nicole,
I had headaches after mine was clipped and they slowly faded. It was explained to me as pain caused by the brain having to re wire itself after the clipping. I also had the metallic taste but that faded as well. Hang in there. Eric

Hi Nicole,
Sorry to hear you are having headaches after your coiling. I had a clipping but I do know alot of people through these sites who have headaches after the coiling procedure and hearing from them they do get better with time. You can take comfort in the fact that your doc did have a CT scan done and there are no more problems. I get headaches easily also but I have been that way all my life, extra strenght tylenol usually works for me.

I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
