If you have had something they prescribed before and it worked for you without bad side effects, by all means, tell them so! Otherwise they'll just flail around in the dark trying stuff that you won't find relief from or won't like side efffects.

Most doctors really want to know if something has worked, before. It keeps them from having to experiment, and decreases your pain, and suggests something else that might be even more effective, liike a stronger dose, perhaps.

Very few doctors would reject such information.

teanroses, Please do not hold any information back from your doctors. They are not there to judge or condemn, but to help with your health and your way of life. Tell him of any nausea the medication causes and make sure you share your anxiety of drug dependency with your doctor.

My father just had a heart valve replaced a few months ago, and his doctor was telling him that it was important not to ignore any pain. When you put up with pain, you start breathing faster and shallower, and your blood oxygen level drops. Share everything with your doctor, after all,,,,you're paying him to help you. Good luck at your appointment.

Thanks Jennifer I will talk to him about both issues. I see the surgeon Thursday for the preop appointment. Have to put my med list and questions into a folder to take with me.

I broke dowm and took some 5mg lortab. My foot hurts so bad to move it now. It hurts to just sit there too. Rebecca is going to stop off at the drug store and drop off my Fentanayl patch prescription. Hopefully they will get the info they need from the doc and fill it. I attached a posit with the doc's phone number on it and to call him. I hope by Friday I will get the patch and really start feeling better. If it doesn't get filled I will have a hell of a week leading up to surgery.
