My inlaws closest friend had heart trouble. One evening he had a massive heart attack that no one was expecting. Well the ambulance team left an awful mess in the house. My SIL and I stayed to clean up and straighten things up. There was no question that he was dead and we didn't want the family coming home to find that medical mess.
I think what Judy and other said about changing the whole room dynamic (color, furniture etc) would be helpful. I guess Im just a very visual person and that image would always stick with me Im sure. We wanted to do what we could to have mom at home when she passed, he last wish basically, but at that point she didnt even remember where "home" was or if she was in her home or someone elses. The fall and the subsequent hematoma....made her dreams of a home passing not possible. Its unfortunate and I feel some discomfort knowing we couldnt do it for her, but also know...she had no clue what city she was in let alone, if she was at home or in the hospital. She was in her own world by that time and I think that was best for her.
Hugs to you as always, prayers coming your way
