Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
hey thats what i want, yes you can all yell at me for not having self control.
got none
yep where is my body gaurd, i do need a boss, truely that is me, needing someone to take control of me
It finally took me getting a DUI, getting put in jail, having my name in the paper, going before a judge and being court ordered to go to AA. My first meeting, I had such a chip on my shoulder. When they asked if there was anyone new to the group, I said, "my name's Kristi and I'm court ordered to be here" They laughed and welcomed me. And for some reason, I haven't picked up another drink since the day before that meeting.
Find a good group, then you have to truly believe that you are powerless over alcohol and take one day at a time.
More power to you. You CAN do it!!!
Pray " Please God, take this urge to drink away, do with it what you wish, just please take it from me"..100 times a day if need be..You are in my prayers..Les
Boy do I wish there was some sort of pill. Everytime I see quit smoking commercials on TV I want to throw something at it and scream what about us, what can you give us. I have a history of doing well only to feel great and run up the street and buy a bottle only to slowly regress.
What works for me is definitely One Day At A Time. Not what I did yesterday or what I'll do tomorrow but I focus on I will not have a drink today. Its so cliche but it really works for me. I've also done the AA route when I lived near more meetings and I truely believe it is a great place. You get incredible support and don't have to believe everything many of them believe, just believe you all want to stop drinking. Every meeting I heard at least one thing that I could take home with me. Pray to whatever higher power works for you. Relish in how good you feel when you have a feeling of sobriety and clarity. And above all, never give up hope.
If you want to take a pill you need to talk to your doctor about options. Have you tried AA? It is a great program and fellowship, you'll meet women who are willing to get that phone call in the middle of the night. If you WANT it then there's hope, don't give up on yourself.
I see from your profile that you have Parkinsons? Alcohol really messes with your central nervous system, and if you are on any meds for the PD, it keeps your meds from working correctly. Go to an AA meeting or to a rehab clinic and ask for help - you'll be so happy that you did it!

Prayers for your strength on this..
I wake up.
I say Please.
I make a decision that I will Not drink TODAY no matter what.
I put just one foot in front of the other, doing the next right thing. I do this all day.
At the end of the day... I say Thank You!
