Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

J got fired today. And, it had nothing to do with his drinking. He has not once been drunk at work. I know he hasn't because I was taking him and picking him up.
Small towns are a pain. He worked at Wal*Mart. My ex-husband's sister works there. She said something about him to management and they fired him. No idea what was said because Missouri is a Right to Work state so they don't have to give him a reason.
I know it probably sounds like I'm making excuses for him, but I'm really not. He hasn't been missing work and he hasn't been drinking at work and he has been doing his job.
It's also quite a coincidence that this happened a week after we ran into my ex-husband at a skating rink and he saw us together for the first time.
He's really beating himself up over it, but honestly, this is more my fault than his. Honestly, neither of us are to blame but MY ex-sister-in-law caused the problem.
And, now I have to brag on him. He is still sober. He is not drinking. He is incredibly angry and upset, but he's not drinking. And I'm more proud of him than I can say.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Good luck but the only way I have ever been able to put the booze down was to deal with the underlying issues. The booze was just a symptom and when I took it away I was miserable. Until I found a program of recovery.

I remember my AA sponser telling me that good things happen to those who stay sober. Little by little, money started coming in from places I would never have expected. One example is, I had an old shed I seldom used and it caved in under the weight of ise and snow one winter so I bragged to my sponser, where is the good in that? He asked if I had it insured and I told him I was sure it wasn't but he suggested I check, Come to find out, I had it insured for 3 times what it costs to build and we received the full amount! We never did rebuild and used the money to live on.
This was just one of many things that happened. It was like someone upstairs was manipulating the pieces in the puzzle of my life. Good things happen when we stay sober is something I never forgot.
So long story short, losing a job is not the end of the world and could be a blessing in disguise, ya never know! When one door closes another one opens and in many ways could be a bigger and better door! So....have Faith, stay positive, and don't judge and life will all work out for you, I promise!
God Bless!
I looked up the Right To Work and I was incorrect about the term.
"If you are employed at will, your employer does not need good cause to fire you. In every state but Montana (which protects employees who have completed an initial "probationary period" from being fired without cause), employers are free to adopt at-will employment policies, and many of them have."
We have a bit of an atypical relationship. He was there for me at my darkest. He helped me find myself again. I was codependent with my ex. I made the excuses, I convinced myself that he was telling the truth when he was lying, etc. I'm not doing that now. I'm giving him a chance because he deserves one. And there is another reason for me knowing for certain that he had not been drinking due to an activity I'm not going to discuss that happened after we came back to my apartment.
And now we're watching a movie and eating brats, and there is still no alcohol to be seen.
As part of his getting sober, he's decided that he needs to go see a priest and do confession. So, that's happening. And that was completely his decision.
