Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Hello, tequila! Loved the stuff for a while and never had that "psychotic" tequila drunk that legends are made from.
Stuck with tequila and some beer for awhile, took a quick dip into the world of scotch (too snooty and $$$ for my tastes) before finding my soulmate...bourbon. Good old, cheap, tasty, 100+ proof bourbon.
I could sip it to maintain a moderate buzz, I could guzzle it if I wanted to get crazy. It was perfect for me...until it wasn't.
I do have to say if jagermeister was the only alcohol available..I wouldn't be an alcoholic! :) Yuk! yuk! yuk!

At first, everything was fine and I drank moderately. It turned into romance and medicine for me and that became my priority instead of enjoying the taste.
It became my best friend and lover. I began to prefer it instead of people and loved ones. It took time, but wine began to change my personally in such a negative way. The more I drank the more I would become irritable, mean and sometimes hateful. It shocked me the next day when I wasn't wasted and remembered what I did or said. I even knew that's NOT how I felt. "That" wasn't me. It became evil and made me evil. Don't freak out but I truly believe it was Satan taking control and speaking through me.
So....... I decided to drop the wine and try a different type of booze thinking it would be different. Honestly, I wasn't as impulsive and out of control emotionally with other brands but it started becoming destructive again for others and me.
I still experienced with other types of booze but I hated the taste and went back to my favorites.
I will tell you that different brands truly did effect me differently. Wine gave me a euphoric feeling, bourbon didn't but it made my heart beat slower and I felt high, Vodka gave me a weird feeling like I could feel a high pitch noise (sounds crazy) it made my heart race and a bit hyper and of course made me high. I drank every friggin day. And on the weekends, look out.
Anyway, it ultimately began to ruin my life and relationships. When I began depending on it physically, and drinking in the morning to control the shakes, I made the decision to quit, got detoxed and made the decision to walk the straight and narrow on the road of sobriety.
I made the choice to live again and return to the woman I knew I was. The lady. I was sick of escaping. When people here say "you need to get sick and tired of being sick and tired" they know what they are talking about.
Sorry for the LONG rambling post! You got me thinking! Shoot, I could have written way more detail but I was trying to shorten it. I hope yall don't think I'm weird now!
Peace
Jim - you used a glass? Haha.
Doggirl, I relate to what you said so much. I would wake up at 7:00 AM and drink straight vodka before work...now it makes me cringe to think "HOW IN THE HELL DID I DO THAT?" I now drink coffee like normal people! Blech! What were we thinking???
I'd even pour a glass of white wine if that was all I had to carry with me & drink on the way to work in the mornings. Hell, I even drank red wine in the mornings if that was all that was available! Red wine at 7:30 AM....how gross is that?
When glass recycling hit my area, I used to take the bottles on my way to work and stop off at bins to dump them in! Now, my bins are clear and it always makes me smile :)
