Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Wanted to hear what finally led to quitting drinking? t've had many "episodes" where I think to myself "I really need to quit drinking" but never did until this week when I was drunk when we went out to dinner for my daughters birthday.... but I have had many instances where it was totally unacceptable to be under the influence. My husband said he couldn't believe I would do that if he only knew about all the other times.... I think it just made me feel like a horrible mother...

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I went to a noon AA meeting and finally listened and finally started to actually hear what I needed to hear. And that was the beginning of my journey into sobriety.
A dui and a two year probation and risk of losing my drivers license and face jail time were not enough to stop me. To this day I am certain without a doubt that it was Divine Inbtervention that that got me to stop and go to that AA meeting.

Unfortunately, they told me in the ER that I couldn't be admitted because I was too drunk! Imagine that! So they told me to sit still in the ER and sober off before driving home but I couldn't so I drove home, drunk.
I continued to drink for the next 4 weeks until my wife got sick of me so she kicked me out but I wouldn't go so she called the cops. I was given a choice to go to jail or go to detox so I told the cop that I tried detox a month ago but they wouldn't take me! So the cop promised me they would take me as long as he gave me an escort down there so I thought that was pretty cool, that'll teach those ER doctors!
So the cop was right, they took me and I spent 4 days in detox followed by 3 weeks in an outpatient program followed by 3 months of relapse prevention group counseling.
Throughout all the treatment I received, attendance at AA meetings was mandatory. That was 7 plus years ago. Today, I still attend occasional meetings, I live my life by the 12 steps and I have never been happier!
God Bless!
Too many times, and caused too much pain.
AA is now my home and the fellowship has built a new strength within me. I feel I can accomplish anything and I never have to drink over life, good or bad.
