Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

What is the difference between humility and confidence? If we lack confidence, are we too humble? If we are overconfident to the point of having a chip on our shoulder, are we not humble enough?
I struggle with this concept.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Hope you are having great weather. It has been so humid and in the 90's here - looks like it will be in the 80's for a week and maybe some rain.
Take good care.
Confidence is a different animal. In my understanding the opposite of humility is self-centredness.
The best is to be both -- be humbly confident.
Confidence is....
The feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust: "we had every confidence in the staff".
The state of feeling certain about the truth of something.
Synonyms
trust - faith - reliance - belief - credit - credence
I believe we can be both humble and confident. They don't have to be at the exclusion of the other.
The thing about humility, as I understand it, is we can't really know it of ourselves. So best to just do the next right thing, and try to care for others. I've found happiness in helping others too so I'm often self motivated to help others. Funny.

With humility it is very much a spiritual discipline to strive toward for me. Self centredness and pride nearly did me in, after all I believe that ego had to be deflated for me to recover and for me that has been essential through the 12 Step programme.

I think being humble for me means accepting that I am good enough and knowing that I don't have all the answers.
Hopefully my actions can convey that.
Thanks for letting me share.
I struggled with this one out the gate too. I have found that I can be confident in my skills and abilities, let say at work, and yet still realize that I am also teachable and don't need to pull rank on others to gain their respect. I can be confident in my core truths and who I am, and yet realize that I am just a humble servant, just a piece of the puzzle. I am not cocky nor am I playing small.
Thanks!
