Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I try to give a little bit more when I get takeout, I'll give the server or person delivering the food an extra 10 percent on top of the tip, or give them cash instead of put it on the card. I'll also tell them thank you and that I really appreciate them. It's not much but it might help them if they are having a bad day or whatever. Lately I've been seeing how important it is for me to allow people to finish their complete sentences and get their points heard as well. I've noticed when I don't do that, they typically deflate and interpret me as a person too selfish to listen or care about their thoughts and views. Usually the next time I see them they aren't very eager to engage in conversation again.
I've been allowing people in traffic to drive how they like, even if it is too slow, or too fast, and when I see people on the shoulder fixing a tire or waiting for a tow truck I'll slow to a speed where the chance of me injurying them Godforbid is close to impossible or zero. I think the combination of being extra considerate of others, no matter who they are, and also not needing them to know how "great" I think I am is creating a strain of sanity that is going to really pay off when it needs to.
What are some of your ways of reminding yourself that unselfishness as a way of life is a great way to treat your alcoholism and help others with their problems as a solution for your own?

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

For my part, I try to maintain an attitude of low expectations. The humans working through life around me don't owe me anything, they're just trying to make their way though same as me. So little things like traffic frustrations, I try to let it go, and "drive friendly". The other thing I strive to do is be generous with my words--to give specific compliments even if they seem trivial. I figure that sort of thing makes me feel better, so I hope to give that little gift to someone else too.
God Bless
