Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I haven't been on in a while. I wanted to apologize. I don't know where to turn and feel like I am losing my mind. I have lost friends, classmates, friends of friends to addiction.
I've really been struggling a little more than my norm for the past few months but been holding on. Planning my best friends bridal shower and bachelorette party has been a trigger.
So fast forward to this past week. One of my close family friends, known the kid since they were in diapers overdosed(well over 20 years knowing this person). I can't sit still, can't sleep, mind is racing. Being at work and busy is the only thing keeping me sane. I contacted my therapist. They have zero openings. Reached out to my sponsor and another fellow AA member. I feel totally lost and helpless. I am attending services alone. S.O cannot go, other friends will be there mourning as well. Any advice is welcome. Thank you for listening. Many blessings dear friends.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I have also lost friends and family members to drugs and alcohol. Had a coworker who overdosed on drugs and he worked just a few feet from me for many years. My own AA sponsor told me, "No matter how well you think you know a person, you never know what's going on inside his head" That was so true because had I known, I would have done things differently.
I was able to deal with it by "Accepting" things the way they were, knowing I could not change them. I am sure he is in a better place and no longer suffering. Don't be afraid to contact one of us here. Hugs
Times like these is when I really miss the instant chat feature which we had at the old site....
God Bless
Thing is once you walk th4u grief one time it will make you stronger. Let yourself be sad, angry, all these are the normal emotions of grief. Go early and see if you can help the family. Do something positive. Stay late and help straighten up or help comfort family.
Just keep the fact that a drink will not be good and will be hurting you.
Prayers from here

I've stayed away from drugs and alcohol. I stopped meditating but asked my s.o to hold me accountable today to get back into it. I stopped the day I got the call my family friend passed.
I am so nervous for tomorrow when services start. I am going to my cousins who is in sobriety and is also willing to hold me accountable while I am in my hometown, and grieving. I realize though I am the one that is responsible for my decisions. Many blessings to you all. Thank you for the love and support.
