My name is Kathryn, I'm an alcoholic. I have been a member here for almost 3 years now, though I've not been around very much lately. I have been sober for over 15 years, and I know I have a lot to be grateful for.

I could say confidently that I have been sober for the worse days of my life....and unfortunately s**t continues to happen and I manage to get through another day sober. Having said that, I wouln't trade my worst day sober for my best day drunk.

My most recent s**t started 2 weeks ago, I felt a lump in my breast and went to the doctor that day. A mammography/ultrasound, positive biopsy and an MRI later I met with a breast surgeon today (my 2nd, I didn't care much for my first surgeon); I have a Mastectomy scheduled for 2/3. There are some upcoming tests and some other misc. uncertainties that need to be addressed, but the mastectomy is a done deal. I am happy to have the prognosis, though it is not an especially good prognosis I've been waiting 2 weeks and I'm glad to have one.

I'm bringing this here for 2 reasons, it is good to share our ESH in sobriety; and the second reason (I have to be honest) is while I joined the breast cancer support group and have made some friends there, there is much less activity on that site than here...a post every day or two over there. There are some good ppl here, and I would love some positive support. Not looking for sympathy....I could find that in the dictionary betwee sh*t and syphilis. But some support would be wonderful, I've not yet explained this to my children......and I'm not going to drink today....which is almost over.
