Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Sounds like you have a great attitude which I'm sure you was taught through the program.
Remember there is a solution to every issue and yes " this to shall pass"
And I guess for me, those illnesses have taken away every single dream I had in my youth and certainly the dreams I had after I presented myself to AA 11 years ago after 18 years of blackout drinking. People say in AA things like "You'll have a life you could never dream of", etc. Well I've certainly had a life I could never have dreamed of - but not in the way that promise means. It's been one where my non-alcoholism related problems stripped most everything in my life from me and then nearly my life. Career lost, home lost, family and friends lost, opportunity to have children lost. And of course all the bigotry and cruelty that goes with being a psych patient. And this is with me being a 100% compliant patient and fully proactive about psychotherapy- the same pace at which I have always worked on my AA recovery.
I am however grateful to be sober. People in my family drop like flies from alcoholism. My Dad, his Dad, most of my Dad's siblings in a large family and many on Mum's side too. So, in a way, it is outrageous that I am alive and sober, just as it relates to alcoholism alone, let alone serious mental illness.
Fact is, getting sober doesn't guarantee that life won't throw the most enormous pot shots at us, but it does mean we're more capable of dealing with things and not adding untold misery to our own lives and the lives of others through addiction.
I hope your medical issue unfold in the best way possible.
Hang on to those 15 year girl. As you know there is no problem that a drink won't make worse.
Peace and ease
I will send my prayers to you. You have support in any way I can offer it. Please keep us posted on how it goes with your kids-that is rough and you are human. Lean on friends for support. Your friends are here-so lean away. xo
I have angels all around me, I'll get thru this and come out ahead. My children are going to watch their mother take on the fight of her life....I wish they didn't have to see that but I believe they too will come out of this stronger.
