Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I am not drunk and I don't have the obsession to drink and haven't had for a while now - that to me is the miracle.
Shortly after I fully committed to the 12 step program and began taking the steps with thoroughness and honesty I went to bed one night and had the realisation that for the first time in my adult life I had gone a whole day without thinking of drinking once. It was the most unbelievable, amazing, miraculous thing for me and that is when I knew that the miracle was happening.
I'm lovin the feeling I have right now.
I started noticing that things stated in the promises, were happening.
I started being happy & was not worried about everything under the sun, I was content & at peace & didn't even want to have a drink and that is my miracle. :)
I don't feel like there has been one particular moment it has happened for me. It's all of the A HA! moments I have which to me are all miracles.
You know, when the light bulb comes on... and you say, "Wow- I am forever changed for the better by what I have just learned."
There's been a lot of little miracles along the way. 'aha' moments I call them, and as has been mentioned, the miracle of obsession to drink being lifted. Probably more small awakenings, but I like the term miracle. It shows me God is at work in my life.
I had a big aha moment at a turning point. After I completed Chemo, and just before a past trauma came back to haunt me. That miracle was the one when I turned towards God and truly felt His presence in my life. That was just before my 10th year in sobriety. Miracles do happen, if we allow them.
Recovery is a miracle in itself, as an alcoholic who was hopeless and helpless I found a way to recover, to break the power of alcohol in my life - the 12 steps.
It dawned on me at a meeting this evening that I don't live in fear anymore. That is clearly a miracle!
Don't pick up the drink. Give the miracle a chance to happen.
i held a child in my arms with 102 fever.......i prayed that his suffering would come to me................that night i broke out in a hellish fever......in the morning the boy was fine.......i had to take a smoke.
those are just a few............yes......i believe in coincidence......;)
i live in purgatory...........i never hit rock bottom........and i only look in one direction for guidance . we where all born with heart. paths are chosen....i was blessed................the "geek" held in the arms of the "vermin" believe me or not.................i did some good.
heart is heart......memory is the curse.
Near the end of my drinking, I decided that my problem was cheap, rotgut liquor, so I upgraded my consumer profile by splurging on a liter of 100 proof Wolfschmidt vodka. I chugged down about eight ounces of it and sat there feelng stark raving nothing at all. In a fury I looked at the back label to see if they had an 800 number so I could call the cheapskates up to complain that they'd diluted the product. They didn't have a number, of course, and my mood quickly shifted to despondent self-pity.
Should I jump out the window or call the suicide hotline? The choices and their likely consequences raced through my mind like lightning on a hot summer night-- oh wait, it was winter. Didn't anybody care any more, not even the distillers? Again I plunged into the raging debate between my ears over the only obvious choices I had left, to leap from the window or call the hotline.
Then it struck me. Suddenly, and as if miraculously, I was transported into a moment of startling clarity as I saw the situation in front of me in sharper focus.

Is the suspense getting to you yet?
OK, just a little further.
I was in a ground floor apartment and I didn't have a telephone.
