Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
i made my first mistake here by spewing part of my drinking menu.....never again.......nobodies business.............
one thing i noticed about you nemo.......is your eyes and the willingness to absorb the beauty you see. many believe you capture it on your own terms.................i know different.............it is forever there at your grasp that my friend makes you a camera whisperer.
you judge through you own eyes and experiences...............you have no idea how much i appreciate that.

Ah, but that was when I became strictly a matter between me & Curtis. If I had been able to drag anyone else into it at that moment, it would have interrupted the most important conversation I've ever had.
The miracle to me is being able to keep peace of mind no matter what curve ball life throws at you,,,,,,,AND NOT USE.
In a nutshell; understanding the serenity prayer and living it.
Relief from the obsession to drink. Sure I think about it, but that nail biting god awful pull is gone today.
A quantum change in how I react to people, places and things. Not always, but enough for me to see progress -- I would have drank by now without that.
And many other miraculous moments of light, love and serenity.
I'm so thankful
The Miracle.... I guess I have a different perspective now. I have not completely lost the obsession to drink. I think that was the miracle I was looking for then.
In the past 9 mos I have experienced a number of miracles. The most incredible of them all is that I have not HAD to pick up a drink in those "almost" 9 mos. AND that I realize today I am not the ONE keeping myself sober exactly - hard to explain. I do what I am supposed to do and I don't have to drink, and I know that is a gift, not an accomplishment.
This has been a tough week for me. BUT it feels like growing pains instead of the world coming to an end. I cannot fathom drinking today any more than I can fathom taking my own life.
It's okay.
I never did take a drink and never did have a dream like this in all my thirty years of struggling to sober up. I`m hoping that this is a sign that the subconscience mind is finally accepting the fact that IT dosen`t drink.
The alcoholic mind is a powerful thing to overcome.
It takes a Miracle!
The second miracle is that at nearly 5 years into sobriety it has never come back, so far.
A true miracle for me was finding out I didn't have to live like I did for so many years and there was solution to my hopelessness. A gift for sure from a power greater then myself.
For me, I realized something had changed in me when I was about 6 months sober. My mother, who is notorious for repeating things she's been told not to repeat, revealed that my brother was 'one of' the people she had told about me going to AA. My reaction? I calmly reiterated to her that that was my news to share, not hers...and waited to go home and do what I'd normally do - dwell on it, and get really mad about how I'd been wronged.
What actually happened was I got home and thought "well, maybe he needed to hear that" and let it go - poof - not renting space in my head anymore.
A week later I got a call from my brother telling me that he'd been 'in and out' of AA for years - and that I was the first person outside of the rooms that he'd ever told about that. I think he did need to hear it -and I needed to hear what he said too - kind of cool how it worked that way.
It was just such a major shift in how I'd have normally handled such a situation - and it happened totally naturally - not at all forcing myself to react properly...felt to me like a realization that I had changed for the better. Maybe a spiritual awakening? I don't know, but it was good : )
The switch from being an active alcoholic to an alcoholic drinker who was refusing to drink to a non drinker was more gradual.
A hundred billion castaways looking for a home.
What are the odds that God would read my note?

For me it was the feeling of distress lifting off of my shoulders, as if by magic. I felt free - and to me that is a miracle.
