Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I would like to thank you all, my fellow Daily Strength-ers, for the decisive support I found here about 3 years ago. Although I am tempted to say I am doing it alone, it is a combination of all the compassionate advices, stories, literature and web resources I found here, as well as my own efforts, that slowly made me first to loose the fear of living without alcohol, and then slowly understand the deep reasons I got in this mess in the first place.
I don't have other support group available that understand the way an addict thinks and acts. I never would have thought an online community can have such an impact without having an in person contact.
Thank you for your kindness, for the sometime heated discussions, and sometimes perceivable rough edges, that made me feel I am in contact with human beings. I remember the recent meltdown that TedWard had here, me expecting quite a few sarcastic answers; however, I was humbled by the companioned responses from most of you.
Someone else here once said that there are a lot of troubled souls just "lurking around" DS without enrolling or posting. I would say to them: keep coming, get involved and start participating, as I am one of the living proofs it works, there is hope, and you can teach us by sharing your stories as well.
God bless you all!

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Keep going and growing
