Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

To be honest, I have one but I never speak to her outside of meetings. But I have a group of friends who are kind of like sponsors.
It took me about a month to get a sponsor. He was perfect for me. He had 5 years sobriety which is what AA recommends, he did a job similar to mine and we both were drug addicts before we became alcoholics. We spent a little time together but we spent alot of time on the phone which was especially helpful during those early days when my new sobriety was still in a fragile state. Good question!
God Bless
It’s like trying to lift yourself up by your belt loops. It’s impossible. We still try to do it alone but just get worn out. Ask for help, that’s the watershed moment.
1-2
Find the one WOMAN who has what you want.
If you have kids, find a one that’s a mother. If you don’t but want them, find one who has or started a family as a recovering alcoholic.
Take your time. Don’t let anyone force their ways on you. Identify who really impresses you in meetings - someone with time, someone who has a similar story to you, someone who may be a great sponsor of others.
I wouldn’t rush, because picking the wrong one could be bad, but if you start feeling a weakness get that phone list.
In the beginning it’s good to go very early before meetings and stay late. They will appear. Connect with as many as possible. In my opinion a larger fellowship as a whole is stronger to me than my individual sponsor.
Good luck and great job. I hope you’re starting to feel alive again!
