Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Alcohol withdrawal in of itself, ideally, should be medically monitored. Especially if you are a high end maintainer.
I will only have 4 a day for the first week, then 3, then 2 - as long as I can cope. I have been a heavy drinker.
I had been giving my partner my purse and cash for a few days so i couldnt buy alcohol, but had stopped. He will be my support and we are off work for 2 weeks so that will help.
I think its a good idea to give him back my purse and also ask him to monitor the pills. I think it would be best, I cant even manage to look after my sleeping pills without taking them too soon.
Beth what do you mean by a bad, bad scene?
Anyone who has taken librium to detox, do you get sick?? Have bad side effects?
I do not know your MD but her prescribing behaviors appear worrisome at best. Did she address what could happen if you continued to drink while taking the Librium? No need for her to worry about making room for me on her new patient list, that's for sure.
Librium is used a lot for home detox by doctors in my area and was also used ofr detox in the treatment centre I was in.
It is usually given in reducing dose though, so the amount you take is reduced down over 7-10 days. Thus you are not presribed enough to cause any problems.
The idea is you stop drinking, take the librium for 7 to 10 days, a lower amount each day and at the end of 10 days you are physically free of alcohol and librium.
