Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I was thinking today. Its sad to say good bye. Oh I would like to say I am just tickled to death to be sober and never planning on drinking again. But after 30 years of drinking saying good bye for good to my alcohol buddy is a little depressing. Oh sure I feel great and I am proud that I have 6 weeks sober but I have to admit it all a little sad to think my long last companion will no longer be in my life..I begin a new chapter of my life.. and I will embrace all of it.. a new journey. I need to find me too. Many years spend with me and my buddy have come to a hult and I now go it alone.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

You do not need to do this alone. We are here to help you along. Hang in there.

Alcohol was never my buddy. My crutch maybe, but never my buddy.
I needed to smash the thought of a drink. SMASH it.
I see it as rat poison.
It was killing me.

Many miraculous things began to happen for me after that. Stay the course. You ain't seen nothing yet! Hugs, Dianna
Good luck on your road to recovery and may your Higher Power walk with you and guide you along the way!
God Bless!
I know the feeling. It is scary and it is hard to accept that alcohol who used to be your friend is now hurting you.
Remember that you are not alone. This group is a kind group.
Hugs.
So happy for you - take good care.
I'd try having a funeral and writing a litter to your "pal," saying goodbye. State what you are going to miss, and wishing it well without it being in your life any more.
The only way to get over something is to acknowledge it, and it took a lot of courage for you to admit this.
Good for you.

I try not to personify alchol -- it is a beverage that I was drinking to excess and in the process destroying my life and my body. It is not my buddy and neverr has been.
That said, I can understand how you feel -- when we spend so much time doing something, no matter how bad it is for us, it can leave an emptiness when we stop.
I hope you can say your farewell, kicking that bum of a "friend" to the curb forever.
(((hugs)))
