Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

The root causes of addiction seem to be within us all no matter what that poison is weather it be alcohol heroin, pain pills, comfort foods and so and so on.
I started out with narcotic pain killers and only started drinking when I couldn't find any more pills to take. I got more benefit from AA then anything else and I was fortunate to have a sponser that had been a previous cocaine addict so he was well aware of duel addition s and how they are created.
If anyone here is interested in paying forward and doing extra, there is another group here with people who could use your help, wisdom, experience, and expertise.
If you don't want to or don't have the time it's fine but I just wanted to bring this group to your attention in case you feel like doing a little more.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

For sure, the root causes are within us, no matter the poison. Why do we want escape ourselves, in whatever way available?
I don't think anyone has an answer. The only thing we can do is keep trying to support each other because we are all in the same boat.
I agree that AA is most likely the way to go. A spiritual experience, and what that really means is surrender.
Like you, age has a way of bringing the light to our eyes. But we cannot change it. Only accept it, and hope and pray we can make a difference in one alcoholic's life, or addicted person's life.
I don't know why NA said that to you. It is not something that would have come out of my mouth, for sure.
Deogee, very well said and thankyou `
For me, I am in the position of being able to help an alcoholic sober up but never met a drug I couldn't walk away from so I would be no help on the DS Board you put a link down for. I'm sure there are others with more experience with drug addiction.
