Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I did some inventory today, took a look at the last 3 months. What I found is I have been in a state of constant complaint with no desire for myself to change, thinking I am the only one that is right and that I am the only one I should be listening to. I treat my alcoholism with the program of Alcoholics Anonymous, and I found earlier in my life through that program that me giving myself answers is very limiting, and eventually will lead to a less happy and productive life.
The saving grace was I did have a deeper agenda to do the right thing, just kind of loitering around all the negativity, and I can be grateful and honest in admitting that once upon a time, when I was only living to get drunk as soon as I woke up, as a status quo for living, I had no desire, determination, or need to do the right thing and improve myself for others peace of mind.
I also found that I had major expectation of other human beings, and was choosing to be dramatically offended at what they decided to do in response to my negativity and "sickness" as we term it in AA. I know plugging back into healthy outlets like DS, reading more spiritual material, and slowing down to ask God for guidance are solutions to the problem of me, being me again, and not knowing that me, as a reliable source for answers, at any time, might have a warped response due to the harm I cause my brain from not being able to say no to alcohol and drugs for such a long time.
Anyone going through something similar?

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I tell myself you’re worthy , you’re good enough , you don’t need to drink today.
Life is one choice after another. Make good choices and then good things follow.
1-2
I can relate! For years, I tried to quit on my own but I just couldn't do it after trying hundreds of times. I knew I needed help. My life kept getting progressively worse and worse over time and the drinking wasn't helping any.
Long story short, I eventually surrendered. I told my Higher Power,, "I just can't do this anymore....You take control now, it's Your turn! That was the day that I was introduced to the God of my understanding!
That was a day that changed my life. Miracles began taking place that made my life better! Looking back, I can clearly see that it was Promise number 12, in action!................ "We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves"
Ironically, it wasn't the AA 12 steps that healed me. While I was in detox, I picked up a book, called "The 12 steps for everyone who really wants them" by Jerry Hirshfield which is the AA 12 steps adapted for EHA (Emotional Health Anonymous) This book helped to heal the underlying conditions which were triggering my drinking. After I read this, I found myself craving more books by this author so I purchased "My Ego, My Higher Power, and me" and all I had to do was read the first chapter to find out that this book was based on "A Course in Miracles" and I knew I had that book in my saved file but never bought it because of the price but this time I immediately went on amazon and purchased it. I read the text and did the lessons, and continue to live my life by them. It has brought rewards to me, too numerous to mention.
Congratulations on 3 months sobriety. You are welcomed back here anytime!
God Bless.
