Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I hate this feeling. Itnalmostmseems easier to give in. Mynson is driving me nuts with the constant begging for things after I say no time after time. In the past, I wouldn't care about a $1.00 app on his iPod. Now I do. And he just keeps at it and I snap. everything annoys me. I took them to the store with me, hoping their presence would keep me away from the wine isle. It did because they were so out of control - I wanted to drink even more! I almost cried right there next to the damn chips.
I don't want to cook dinner, just leave it up to husband to do. My nails look like shit from biting them. I feel like I'm losing it...

I know this is stupid, but after not being able to find a job after graduation for almost two years, I ended up just taking an online teaching job because I couldn't find anything in my field. I was trying to get out of teaching and I feel so devastated. I felt this crushing feeling when I signed the paperwork and when I was in the meetings. I know that sounds so dramatic but it is how I felt. It...

Tomorrow is National Massachusetts Day!Have you ever lived in or visited Massachusetts? If so, tell us what's great about the Bay State!

Make a phone call and get to a meeting. You'll feel better.

You will learn more than you bargained for. Stick with it - do what is suggested to you even if it sounds a bit weird. Stick around here - many of us have recovered in AA and have much to share with you.
Best wishes
Lyn
PS Feel free to private message me if there's anything I can help with!
Ugh.
Anyway get some time. Get into the recovery.
And for god sakes go get a manicure;)
The type of things that you are having difficulty in dealing with now are the very same things that AA will help you to cope with well apart from the nails.
Today, its the kids, tomorrow it could be the car, the day after it will be something else but regardless of what it is you should try to understand one important fact. You have an obsession for alcohol and it will tell you to drink. The journey that you have just started on leads to this obsession being removed and the urge to drink leaving you. The rewards are great, such as being there for your children and watching them grow up. Nothing that is worthwhile in life comes without some work or sacrifice so think of the pain as a form of training for some big goal in your life.
The alternative is pretty horrible for you, for your children and for everyone around you. Do you really want to go back there? This is where the support of the meetings is so vital so my suggestion to you is to get to a meeting and make the most of what you find there. It may not be easy but those negative feelings can be turned off and replaced with a positive attitude that says I can do this.
I was nuts for awhile when I quit and not always "in the best mood." (A nicer way of saying I was an overly-emotional bitch.)
Stay with it -- cry through the cravings if you need to, but don't pick up a drink. Good news -- it gets better!
