Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
just saw on here ealier, "if you had an allergy to nuts you would not eat nuts and risk your like" "insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results" although that came from albert enstien...it works really well in AA too
From someone on here GOYA= Get Off Your A**......I still have to remind myself that nothing will change if I dont get up and do something (sheww, the very basic stuff, lol)
KISS Keep It Simple Stupid (though really I dont like the stupid part, we are not stupid just lacking in the proper information :)
For me in early recovery I have remind myself of the very basic stuff all the time
And a really big one that helps me, not sure if its even AA but to think of those crazy thought of reasons I can drink as the "monster" who talks, and I have to fight those thought as the come and truely know they are irrational and untrue!!!
Really I never thought Id addmit it but those little saying in AA do help a lot when my mind is going crazy!!
All I have to do is say no to drinking RIGHT NOW
Ashley thanks with the one about insanity "insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results" I have another version on that.
"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and knowing the results."
E.G I would drink all kinds of alcohol and come to with the hangover from hell. Having the worst headache ever not being able to blink or move my head. I would be dry reaching having the taste of that last bit of bile in my mouth. I wouldn't be able to breath through alcohol poisoning. It would last up to three days. Then when I started to feel better I would do it again knowing the results. Totally insane. Only one example.
Chris This is a good one .Though I remember my last drunk.(Day) I don't remember it ,what went on I was a blackout drinker. I pray it was my last one.
God Bless.
Thanks ..
Lionel
