Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I do drink to tolerate the boredom and frustration and its a habit that I have done for years. and yes probably an alcoholic. alcohol has been a part of my life since childhood. good and bad times it was always a part of the mix. food for thought that I need to do other things that are more positive and less of a drain on my body.
when I am being really mean and critical to myself I stop myself and practice self compassion. this is a great help for me.
I don't even drink to have fun with others. like it used to be fun. so if I go out with co-workers and they have like 1-2 drinks and so do I but then I have to have 2-3 more beers and a cig before bed.
looking at AA meetings in the area and know what I need to do. when I get off work or face the evening alone that's what I want to do-drink. praying for God to open my eyes and strengthen my will to care enough about myself to make positive changes.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I could have listed dozens of reasons for drinking and to me they all seemed genuine at the time. However, I now realize that any sane individual would say that none of those reasons made a lot of sense. What I was doing was drinking alcoholically and using any means at my disposal to justify it to myself so that I would not have to confront reality.
There are many paths to sobriety but the only one I knew was AA and thankfully that has worked up until today and hopefully into the future, one day at a time. I put off going to an AA meeting until I had run out of other options and that is probably what most people do. Whatever path you choose to take, I would urge you to act now rather than putting it off until tomorrow. Freedom from being dependent on alcohol is a great feeling and that freedom is within your grasp.
Take action today.
