Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I haven't been participating on this forum lately because I don't have that much time. Since I stopped drinking, I have so much more energy to pursue one of my dreams/goals, which is to learn how to write grants for non-profits. I just began researching this subject this month, and I have found so much information online. As of last week, I am enrolled in an online class called "How To Change The World", as well as English Composition. I have a B.A. degree, but I know I need a refresher course in how to write grammatically correct if I want to write successful grants. I am also attending a free grant application workshop next week.

I wanted to share today's horoscope from Christopher Witecki . I was able to copy it to my journal on this site, but not here. Oh well, anyone can see it if they view my journal entry for today.
I just wanted to share about some of the positive changes in my life these days. Does anyone else have positive changes that you have experienced since you stopped drinking?

Dick Van Dyke’s path to sobriety was a turning point in his life and career. Here’s what happened:How He Got SoberStruggles and Realization: Van Dyke began drinking as a teenager, largely to cope with shyness and social anxiety. My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...

I thought I had mentioned the documentary "I Am" that essentially is a study in How To Change The World. It's on Netflix.
Here's a few quotes from the film...
Menseek money or powerfor they aspire to the highest, and this, in their sleepwalking, they dream is the highest. Wake them, and they shall quit the false good and leap to the true.
Great souls are they who see that spiritual is stronger than material force, that thoughts rule the world.
I wish I could show you, when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being.
Thanks, for the coursera link...
I quit a low paying job, started a second career (hypnotherapy) then also landed a high paying professional job. (Using my business background, not in the field of hypnosis.) Those were big changes for me.
Personal changes include better family relationships (like a zillion times better) and healthier in all ways that matter.
Loved your link to the free courses... something I hope I can take advantage of.
Love your outlook and progress, too!
And yes countless positive changes for me. they start with the fact that I'm not hungover. I am not craving a drink. Therefore I have more SPACE in my life for relationships, real ones, for passions, for emotions, for beauty. And my life is now richly full of these and more.
So grateful. Grateful for that too;-)
