Not hating myself now

Went to an AA meeting again tonight several miles from my house. Went past several booze joints and corner stores on the way home and had no urge to stop. Have decided I want to be sober and drug free. I am back on track and think I can do it this time. I also have no urge to be around people that are bad for me as long as I am sober and clean. It is only when I get messed up that I get with the wrong crowd.
I am home for the night and feels good to be straight for another day. I am going to really try to take it 1 day at a time. And try to stay closer to the God of my understanding for support because I know I cannot do this on my own.

Well done Barry. It looks like you have an acceptance that you cannot drink or drug and that is the foundation of recovery. Good idea to build on that by taking some action to change your way of thinking.

Doing good today. Staying mentally strong. Its still early but already know that I am staying straight today.Appetite is back to normal now just ate a good lunch instead of drinking lunch. Which is how any of my bad times go. Never would eat before or during a drunk spell because I would feel too full to drink. I was about 30 lbs under weight when I started AA in March but now am about where I should be despite a couple of bad slips. That is proof to me that AA works for me even if not 100% of the time! I plan to keep going back and never just giving up.

Home again for the night sober and straight! With the help of God I think I can do this. Once I come through the door without getting messed up I can feel good about myself when I go to bed that night at least. Last time I made it for a while it got easier and I know it will again. I just have to take it as it comes. One day at a time.

Sill doing good! Stacking up days. I can like myself when I am doing this good. My past may keep me from ever being able to love myself. I am trying to be good that is all I can do.

    check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

     I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
