Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I have been reading the posts on here for awhile. Finally decided to say something. I am alcoholic. I hate that I am so weak to the booze. Used to be a strong person. Really gonna try to stop this time so thought the support would help. Married with a couple kids, don't want my kids to grow up with a drunk for a mother. Husbands disgusted. I take care of everyone and everything and never have a moment to myself. Try to hide my drinking, but I can't.....need to stop.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

There are several important steps on the road to recovery from alcoholism and you have taken the first by admitting that you have a problem. However, although many admit to the problem, some fail to fully accept the reality of where they are. If you are an alcoholic, the reality is that you cannot drink safely, not even one drink. If you can come to accept that big chunk of truth, you will have a good chance.
Being a strong person is no defence against alcoholism as when you fight it, you are fighting a battle that you cannot win. For an alcoholic, drinking becomes an obsession and someone who suffers from such an obsession will find it very difficult not to drink. Short or long periods of sobriety may occur but a day will usually come when obsession overcomes willpower and a reason will be found to drink, often blaming it on someone or something other than oneself.
The obsession that drives an alcoholic to take the first drink can be successfully removed and there are various methods of doing that. It may be that posting here on DS, along with acceptance will be all that you will need. However, if you find that you are still struggling, do not be afraid to look for help. Do not discount anything that may help you, even if you see people posting along the lines of “I did it without xyz”.
The good news is that you need never drink again and the even better news is that you can have a great life without alcohol.
