Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Hi. I am a newborn recovering alcoholic (again), a big 7 days sober now. One of the many things I realize this time around is that I NEED to build/join a network of comrades who understand. My family and friends are being supportive, but they don't truly understand. I welcome any and all encouragement and friendships. Glad to be here!

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
I'm glad to hear you're on the road to recovery! And you're so right about support being key during this time. So, I'm glad you're here, and I know others will jump on to welcome you. But have you thought of finding a support group in your area, as well? Sometimes it's really helpful to have people you can meet with face to face. So, maybe look into AA groups (if you haven't already) or I know Celebrate Recovery or the Road to Freedom are other ones that you can usually find locally. Just a thought. But, most of all, I just wanted to way welcome and that you'll be in my prayers!

I don't have a whole hell of a lot.
My therapist is very supportive.
You will enjoy the boards they help a lot.
I tried hundreds of times to quit on my own but I just couldn't do it. I knew I needed help and I was told I needed alot of support based on past issues with marriage problems, depression and ptsd. I feel I was directed to the people who could help me because I prayed alot after my life fell apart and I had no one else to turn to except God! When I did that, there were alot of miracles in my life and I knew because the answers hit me like a ton of bricks!
That was 7 plus years ago. Today, I live my life by the 12 steps and I have never been happier!
Good luck on your road to recovery. I hope you find the right path for you and I hope you can come back a week from now, a month from now and a year from now to celebrate your time in recovery! We can't give you a virtual cake but AA can give you a real one and you can celebrate with one of the greatest sources of help in the world and share in that same happiness that I never thought possible!
