I am all for it however as I said before I have been lobbying since BEFORE the big change to have 2 more added. The idea presented is to have 1 from the US one from Great Britain and 1 from Australia. thus giving pretty much 24 hour coverage.

I think it's a good idea for extra CL's Jim, but I do think the US area needs at 'least' 2 CL's. That timezone has a higher user base, and with your new job, you won't have as much time available. It'd be good for you to have someone else in the US to bounce off.

If Depression board can have 8, why not have a few more here. DS is growing. We have 3 x Admins in Subg-groups and that's working great. I'm happy to have my name thrown up for the wee hours, but I'd like to throw a nomination out for GJM, Glad2bee and JD for the US.

I'm in agreement that we need more CL coverage. I see that my name has been offered up but I don't believe I'm the right person for the job. I would highly recommend Coogee, Glad2bee, and GJM though.

This is a very busy forum. I was on some other forums before this one and you were lucky to get a reply in a day. On DS, a morning thread can be buried in a couple of hours. Then again, if it's controversial it will stay up all day. Anyway, it would be good to have the additional coverage here.

BTW you have to put in an application. DS still runs the show

my thoughts are that closing a thread is an absolute last resort. We're adults, newcomers have been living in controversy for years, they can take it. If they want an excuse the day of the week will do just fine.
Not trying to argue, just think this needs to said. I also know that post are in indelable ink, we all do. Two or even 5 people deciding to close a thread is ... mob rule.

Yes, i think Jim has his hands full but it's also my understanding that this is a DS decision -

i really dont' mind either way - all persons nominated seem like good names.

But until then, the best way to kill a thread is not to respond to it - with some many new posts a day a thread that gets no response can disappear very quickly.

I agree with all names mentioned...Coogee would be excellent since she's in the future and is always there for us Americans when we can't sleep over here and gjm, glad2bee, & dipster are all great ideas as well if they agree to do it.

Not sure of anyone in the UK who is on here as frequently as some of us though, serenity & nicky would be great but I don't think they're here very often. I see Nicky lurking more than serenity though, maybe she'd be willing?

I agree more Cl's are needed. Many times these threads get out of hand. Not saying disagreements are bad but when personal attacks begin it would be good to have people step in to diffuse the situation as it is no longer "support" or educational.

Coogee is a great choice as she is a long time AA member and brings compassion, experience and insightful knowledge

jackthedipster is also a great choice as I believe he is non AA, however not anti AA, which would bring balance of viewpoints and he also brings compassion, support and reason to the posts.

Glad2bee - of what I have learned of her would also be a great choice, however I do agree that different programs should be represented as CL's

I'm 100% with Carebear. Whether or not CL's or added or not added, the only way we are going to change the toxic nature of some threads is to STOP responding.

That will send a real message.

It's very interesting to me in a few ways. While I think CL's are a very good idea and more CL's are probably good for this board, we have to notice that many of us who post regularly are the people who get into controversial discussions. I agree with glad2 that we really need to learn a bit of self regulation as well. Before I even LOOK at what may be a controversial thread I look for a thread that may be asking for some help. I agree that we should have AA and non-AA CL's but I also feel that Jim is very open minded if your recovery journey is working for you. I definitely believe we need a person(s) who can balance their responses. God, you should see the eating disorder board. I've NEVER seen a CL in there. Do you know how many suicides that board has. That's why I don't even go over there. I know I have help to offer but basically it can just be young girls supporting each other in continuing with eating disorders. However, I also know there really are no comprehensive treatments for eating disorders that actually work. Anyhow, I'm in support of anything that helps. Blessings

I agree in theory with glad2be about not responding, and am trying to practice that, however sadly I just don't think it is possible. Reason being there are just too many egos.
