Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Whilst in my cups if someone told me that alcohol was running my life and that alcohol was my master I would have thought they needed to visit the men in the white coats. No way was it running my life. Did not I have the trappings of life, home. children, wife. career, boat? Where not all these things what we aimed to achieve in our life??
I it was not till I sat with my sponsor and talked about the first step that I came to realise how alcohol managed my life.
Did I not take a slab in the boot when I went to a party in case there was not enough.
Did I not take that offered beer knowing there was not enough to get drunk,
Did I not make sure the fridge had enough grog in it to get totalled all the time.
Did I not make excuses to not go to functions because I knew there was no alcohol.
Did I not sit at work and count the hours down till I could get the grog, in fact did I not say 2 hours till beer o'clock.
Did I not leave work on many occassions saying I would not drink tonight only to find myself cracking that first can.
Did I not then say to myself after cracking that first can OK I will only have one or two only to wake up the next morning haveing drunk everything.
These are just a few of the examples of how alcohol was effecting my life. I can look at these now and see that I ran my life around my alcohol, therefore, the grog was the real power in my life.
I was powerless over the alcohol in that I had to have it and my life was unmanageable with out it. Therefore it was alcohol that was running my life, I did everything around alcohol it was my master.
I could now see I was powerless and my life was unmanageable.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ
