An amazing end to 2014...
September 4th I celebrate 20 years sobriety.
September 15th I have open heart surgery. Aortic valve is removed and artificial one replaces it. An aneurysm on the aorta is repaired and a hole in the heart is fixed.
October 2nd Now on blood thinners, new problems arise. Internal bleeding starts and polyps and a 2cm mass rupture in my colon rupture. Two feet of my colon is removed.
November 2nd things still not going right. Can't eat, nauseous, and no longer can urinate. Back in the hospital checks on liver and gall bladder. I begin to accept this might be it. I thank my Higher Power for sobriety and the ability to make amends and to make friends.
November 7th Two liters of fluid is removed from my heart. Not my lungs, but my heart.
November 9th For the third time within two months I'm released from the hospital. I decide that I will no longer wait for the next step backwards.
November 12th Cardiologist agrees to let me go back to work. It's only 4 hours a day but things are moving forward.
December 14th a holiday that was planned in July, for spending Christmas in England becomes a reality. Going back to work and exercising brings me back to life.
December 24th - will celebrate my 57th birthday
A new closeness with my Higher Power and an appreciation for my life and the lives of others has made me love this Christmas miracle...

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
